One-Line Bio

I work as an educational program manager at a local museum in a New Jersey suburb of Philadelphia. In my spare time I like to knit, spin, cook, read and learn new things.

Biography

I am the first-born daughter of a first-born daughter of a first-born daughter. It took me till I was thirty years old to overcome the perfectionist tendencies that instilled. Now I am a (nearly) fearless learner, and I love to try new things. I feel like I am making up for being so uptight in my youth by enjoying middle age and my growing children so much.

After college, I worked in "Big 8" (back in the dark ages when there were 8) public accounting for seven years - five great years and two "I don't know what else to do" years. Then I got pregnant, had my daughter and figured lots of things out. Things like home is a great place to be, and how fast the years go. Now Sugar Plum is 15 years old, and her brother Super Dude is 12. They are two of my favorite people in the world. Their dad is a great guy, too, and I am lucky to have found him at just the right time.

My current job at the local living history museum is more for mental stimulation and fun than the (teeny) paycheck. It is a beautiful place and a peaceful environment to have to spend a few hours a week in. In my most passionate dreams, though, I own a yarn shop.

My mom taught me how to knit as a kid, but I never really enjoyed it. I came back to knitting after learning how to spin as part of my job in the educational program at the museum. I figured that I should know how to do something with that yarn. It started slowly, but in the last 2 years I have been totally sucked into all things fibery. I still have lots to learn, but the best thing about knitting is that when you rip back a mistake you still have the yarn! All you have lost is the time spent making it. I love it!
